Suchan Says: Wednesday Rain Chances

Tracking area of rain to our southwest

As we head into our midweek Wednesday forecast, I’m already watching the next round of rain working up into southern Kansas and across Oklahoma.  This rain should “weaken” somewhat as it pushes into our area but not enough to prevent a chunk of the area from having a wet morning commute.  While a rumble of thunder is possible, I expect early morning activity to be mainly just patchy rain with thunder chances increasing late morning and afternoon with some daytime heating.

By Wednesday evening, rain chances are decreasing rapidly and even some sun is possible into sunset.  The Royals game at 7:10pm only has an isolated rain chance near first pitch.  Otherwise, I expect decent weather at the K !!!  GO ROYALS!!!!

Likely to be using the windshield wipers for the morning commute and quite possibly for the late afternoon ride home

A look at forecast charts Wednesday show “some” wind shear and a bit of instability but I’m not impressed for severe potential.  I wouldn’t rule out a stronger storm or two with small hail but overall, I expect mainly heavy downpours and frequent lightning to be main concerns with Wednesday T-storms in the area.

Thursday will bring a better chance for isolated severe storms with large hail potential and a few stronger wind gusts.

Very low severe chances overnight and Wednesday. An isolated stronger storm with small hail is possible
