Hallie’s Hints: Thursday Early Evening Update

We had our first round of showers and thunderstorm roll through the area this morning into early this afternoon. Now many of us are seeing a break in activity. If you have evening plans, you’ll want to keep an umbrella handy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible this evening and overnight. The severe threat with any of these thunderstorms is on the lower side, but still gusty winds, quarter size hail, heavy rain, and frequent lightning can be expected with the strongest storms.

Friday will bring additional showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. While we can’t completely rule out a severe thunderstorm warning or two for quarter size hail or gusty winds, the overall severe threat is once again on the lower side. There is a much higher severe risk south and west of our area.

All eyes turn to the weekend. There is the potential to see a tornado outbreak across portions of western and central Kansas down into Oklahoma and Texas Saturday. Stay with the KCTV5 StormTrack5 Weather team for the latest on the severe weather threat through the weekend. Now is a great time to download our KCTV5 Weather App on your cell phone if you haven’t done so already. You can view live radar as well as get watches and warnings pushed to your cell phone for FREE!
