Suchan Says: Looking Ahead to Next Chance of Rain

An unseasonably cold night is ahead under clear skies and very light winds.  With a very cool, dry air mass in place conditions are ideal for a rapid fall in temperatures by sunrise.  Much of the area will dip into the upper 30s to lower 40s!  While I do not expect much frost in the area, I wouldn’t completely rule out a random report of light frost from someone early Tuesday should temperatures dip toward the mid 30s in one or two spots.

Otherwise, get set to enjoy a beauty of a day Tuesday as temperatures quickly climb to near 71 by the afternoon under mostly sunny skies.  Winds will be very light and variable as high pressure drifts over the area.

Our next system begins to take shape Wednesday to our south over Texas and Oklahoma.  As it moves north Wednesday, skies will turn partly sunny for half the day before going completely cloudy later in the afternoon to evening.  We should see a few rain showers move into at least the southern half of the area by evening Wednesday.

Thunder chances enter the forecast Wednesday night through Thursday as the system moves overhead.  I’ve put our rain chance Wednesday night into Thursday at 80%.

I do not expect severe storms Wednesday night and through the day Thursday.  Instead, a few storms with frequent lightning and torrential rain likely.

Here are some forecast timeline images for the next couple of days along with forecast rain amounts…
