Suchan Says: Soaking Rain on the Way

After a couple of gorgeous days, attention will gradually shift to our next system ready to roll in with rain and occasional thunder.  Before we get to this soaking rain, we’ll squeeze in one more very nice day Wednesday before the first showers arrive.

The system of interest is showing itself well to our southwest in New Mexico to west Texas and eastern Texas.  An area of low pressure will develop and scoot northeast moving across west – central Kansas Wednesday night through Thursday.  This will result in a sunny start to the day Wednesday gradually mixing with afternoon clouds then turning cloudy by evening with sprinkles and showers trying to move in.

The bulk of the rain arrives Wednesday night through Thursday morning’s commute.  I have taken our rain chance to 100% for this period but by Thursday afternoon, the rain chance will gradually decrease to around 70%.  By Thursday evening, the chance of rain will lower to 40%.

I do not expect a severe weather risk despite the fact we will see a little thunder in the forecast.  Instead, pockets of heavy rain will accompany any thunderstorms creating locally higher rainfall amounts depending on where they move.

High temperatures Thursday will range from the mid 60s to lower 70s from north to south.

Friday will break into more sunshine with scattered clouds and warm up to near 80.  There will also be a 30% chance of isolated to scattered thunderstorms.  Any thunderstorm Friday could become strong to perhaps even severe with large hail and brief strong wind gusts.
