After a wicked line of storms producing pockets of straight-line winds and a few quick spin-up tornadoes Saturday evening into Saturday night, we were able to relax into a nice Sunday with a gusty wind and highs up near 80.

Monday begins a trend of well below average temperatures for this week as we tap into a cooler Canadian air mass.  There will be a big drop in humidity levels for much of the week and as our next system moves in Tuesday night, rain falling into this cool, dry Canadian air mass will deliver us a chilly day Wednesday only in the 50s!

Monday’s high will top out in the upper 60s followed by mid 40s Tuesday morning.  Tuesday afternoon will only reach the lower to mid 60s for highs.

The system coming in Tuesday night will track to our south keeping thunderstorm potential to a minimum.  There could be a few rumbles of thunder in southern sections.  Temperatures will rain-cool into the lower to mid 50s for the day.  The chance of rain is 80% and is confined to the first half of the day.  Rain chances will lower considerably by late afternoon as the system moves away.

As I see it now, another 1/2 inch of rain on average is likely for the area.  Normally I would say “beneficial” rain but after the weekend soaking we saw, a dry week would be much preferred!

Next round of thunderstorms that will merit some attention would be next weekend as another system tracks into the middle of the country.  We’ll keep an eye on this part of the forecast during the week.
