Hawila’s Heads-Up: Severe Weather Upate

As of 10:52 PM, there are no active severe thunderstorm warnings in our area. Our main concern this evening continues to be the flooding potential. Many area rivers and streams along and north of I-70 are very elevated from rain earlier in the day. A number of those are in flood stage. The latest observation from the Fishing River in Mosby shows the river is just 1.3 feet shy of entering major flood stage.

Crooked Creek near Richmond is also flirting with entering major flood stage.

Live Power Doppler displays the additional thunderstorms in these, and surrounding areas this evening. The last thing we need right now is additional heavy rains, but this round of storms is providing that. There’s also ANOTHER round of rain and storms expected to push through the area overnight. That area of activity is currently in southeast Nebraska.
