Severe storms in Iowa will pick up speed and move to the southeast for the remainder of this evening.  This could bring them close to north – central to northeast Missouri in the next several hours but appears they should stay just outside of our northern most counties this evening.  I’ll continue to monitor trends but am feeling reasonably comfortable on this scenario as of right now.

Visible satellite shows an impressive view looking down on these towering storms this evening!  Also note a small collection of clouds in our northeastern zones.  This would be a secondary area worth watching for a pop up thunderstorm over the next hour or so but at this point I’m not seeing that process underway.  Still, worth watching through sunset.

Tonight will be warm and muggy with an isolated shower or storm possible in northern sections late.  Thursday brings another hot day to the region followed by a good chance of late day thunderstorms.  Some of these storms will be strong to severe with large hail, damaging wind gust potential and torrential rain.
