Hawila’s Heads-Up: Monday Rain

We were spoiled this holiday weekend with great weather, but now it’s time to focus on the very good chance for rain moving back into the picture as we start the new workweek. A strong cold front will sweep through the area during the second half of Monday and will bring a good chance for rain and storms. Some of this rain will be heavy at times prompting a localized flooding concern.

For those Monday morning commuters, don’t worry! Confidence is high the Monday morning commute will be dry. The lunch hour Monday also looks dry, Rain chances will really ramp up as we head into the evening hours. Rain looks likely to reach the metro between 7 and 9 PM… Very unfortunate timing for the Royals game tomorrow.

The environment tomorrow will be conducive for heavy rain potential. Model data have consistently painted a widespread 1″ – 2″ of rain across the area. Flooding in some areas is possible, so flood-prone areas should keep close watch. ForecastTrack shows the rain potential through Tuesday morning. Don’t pay attention to each hometowns model forecast rain totals, but the overall trend. 1″ to 2″+ of rain is possible.
