Hawila’s Heads-Up: Excessive Heat

So far, July has been running about 6° below average. We’ll make a dent in that departure over the next several days as we continue a string of 90s through next weekend. A Heat Advisory is in effect today for temperatures climbing into the middle 90s with high humidity. Heat index values with the forecast temperature and dew point temperature will approach 106° by the late afternoon. If you’re headed to the Royals game, make sure you come prepared with a lot of sunscreen and water to stay cool and hydrated!

The oppressive humidity will still be present on Monday and the actual air temperature will be even hotter. Highs on Monday are expected in the upper 90s across the area, and that means heat index values will approach 115° during peak heating. This is dangerous heat, so please limit your time outdoors.

90°+ heat is likely to continue through the weekend and humidity will not make many improvements between now and then.
