Hawila’s Heads-Up: Monday Rain Chances

Some areas north of I-70 saw some impressive rainfall totals Sunday morning where several inches of rain fell in isolated spots. That rain cleared out this afternoon and left us with a pretty nice Sunday!

Looking ahead to Monday

We will monitor the development of more showers and storms to our west later this evening. This is the area of focus for what could be a wet Monday morning commute.

What does develop is NOT expected to arrive into our area this evening. The rain chances really ramp up after 3 AM. Current model guidance suggests the best chance for rain Monday morning will be along the I-70 corridor and points north. Some of that rain could be heavy and drop a quick, significant amount in a short period of time. That’s why the National Weather Service has a Flash Flood Watch until 1 PM Monday.

Scattered rain and storms sill likely linger through the late morning hours before becoming more isolated in nature. So, you’ll definitely want the umbrella for the morning drive back to work, but you likely won’t need it for your Monday evening plans.

The Royals game Monday night looks good! There is only a slight chance of rain closer to first pitch with temperatures in the middle 80s.
