Amble’s Ramble

First the humidity then the heat.  Today will offer the last few hours of comfort before the heat becomes dangerous.  Today the afternoon high will climb to 86 degrees which shouldn’t turn any heads but as the winds stay out of the southeast it will draw in a very humid mass of air making 86 feel more like 92 this afternoon:

Friday will be much worse as the high in the afternoon climbs into the mid 90s and the arrow on the comfort index reaches the high side of Miserable!  The heat index Friday will soar well above 100 degrees landing in the 103 to 106 degree range.  Because of that a Heat Advisory will begin at 11:00 AM Friday morning:

Saturday will offer even more intense heat as the high climbs into the upper 90s with the comfort Index meter pegging out at the very top on Miserable. The Heat Index Saturday will flirt with 110 degrees by the middle and late afternoon hours. Sunday will offer only a slightly cooler day with both high heat and humidity through the day.

Please take caution if you’re working or playing hard over the next few days. I know you’re tired of hearing this but I can’t stress enough the importance of drinking water early in the day and continuing that practice through the day.  If your body doesn’t feel right you could be ( probably are ) experiencing some sort of heat related illness.  At that point completely shut down what you’re doing, find a cool area, even if it’s only a shady spot with a wet towel or rag. Drink, drink, drink and don’t continue any stressful activities for the remainder of the day.  If you still don’t feel quite right don’t hesitate to seek medical help. You can easily cause long term damage if you ignore the warning signs of hyperthermia or dehydration.  Stay safe and have a great weekend.
