Amble’s Ramble

This wet summer continues today with scattered showers and storms this morning. By the end of the day our 2015 total will exceed 31″. Here’s the latest forecast track model data showing the projected rains over the next 60 hours:

Let’s compare this year to last year.  In 2014 after a soaking wet June the rain almost completely stopped sending most Metro lawns into a dormant shade of brown and even killing a few stands of grass. At this same time last summer the collection gauge only showed a little more than 19″. Even a conservative estimate of today’s rain would place this summer 12″ higher than a year ago. Imagine a full foot of water standing on your lawn. Another way to look at it is an inch of rain each week for almost 3 months.

If the rains continue to fall at this rate, and there’s no reason to think it won’t, we will nearly have our normal years worth of rain by the end of the month!
