Hawila’s Heads-Up: Rainy Start To The Weekend

We can’t say it was the perfect start to the weekend. Showers, thunderstorms and even some severe storms blew through the area this morning. Here’s a few looks at radar showing both the complex of showers and storms and a closer look at a thunderstorm with history of large hail and damaging winds as it moved through the SW portion of the KCTV5 viewing area.

All day rain is NOT anticipated, so if you have Saturday afternoon plans (Go Royals!), things look to stay in good shape! The rain will take a break later this morning and into the afternoon with some sun expected. Although a mostly dry afternoon is in the forecast, this evening could bring us more scattered storms especially north of the I-70 corridor. The SPC has this area under a slight risk for severe storms. Hail and damaging winds are the primary risks, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in this area.
