Suchan Says: More Warmth and Look Ahead to Friday Rain

We topped out at 82° Tuesday afternoon!  The record high for the day is 89°.  So not quite record territory but it was worth a look to see.  Wednesday is yet another day of unseasonably warm conditions with temperatures again right around the 80-degree mark.

I have a couple early morning showers or a rumble of thunder in the forecast followed by mostly to partly sunny afternoon skies allowing for the big warm up.  Forecast high is 81°.  It does not appear to be as windy a day but we should see a steady afternoon breeze.

By the evening, a couple of pop up showers are possible and possibly a random lightning strike.  Best chance for this possibility is in eastern Kansas.

Sporting KC forecast

Sporting KC forecast

Thursday turns mostly cloudy and it stays very warm in the mid to upper 70s.  There will be a 30% chance of showers or a random T-storm during the day but the bulk of the rain should stay west of our area.  If travelling to Wichita or Salina, plan on a good chance of hitting some rain.

Thursday night into Friday morning will have a rapid increase in the chance of rain as a large upper low over the Southwest finally begins to lift into the area.  Latest model analysis has this solid band of rain over us for roughly half the day Friday before drier air moves in late afternoon to the evening to lower the rain chance.  Highs Friday range from the upper 60s to the east to mid 70s to the west (warmer where drier air moves in first with even a few breaks of sun).
