Hallie’s Hints: SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH Thursday 1:30 PM Update

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for a large portion of our viewing area through 8 pm. The main severe threats that we will be watching with the strongest thunderstorms are gusty winds and large hail. The tornado threat is not zero, but it is on the lower side.

Right now (1:30pm) storms are starting to fire off near the metro. Nothing is strong or severe at the moment. A cold front up to the north will bring additional rounds of showers and storms through 8pm. At this time, it appears most storms will move out of the metro by 6 pm and out of our entire viewing area from north to south by 8 pm.

Stay with the StormTrack5 Forecast team for the latest on the severe weather threat today.
