Hawila’s Heads-Up: Active Start To The Week

Clouds blanketed the area this afternoon ahead of our next chance of rain that moves in overnight. Showers will overspread the area after midnight for southwest to northeast. Most, but not all, of the rain should be out of our way by the lunch hour with just some straggler light showers and sprinkles left behind for the afternoon. Expect a little bit of a wet Monday drive into work.

Along with the rain, it will be yet another breezy day with winds blowing in from the south 15 to 25 MPH with gusts nearing 30 MPH at times.

Don’t let the break in the rain fool you Monday. A more significant round of rain will arrive late Monday and linger into Tuesday. Pockets of heavy rain are expected with this second batch. There’s a high chance southeast Missouri will be dealing with some flooding issues as several inches of rain is expected to fall in the eastern part of the state. In our area, we’re NOT expecting several inches of widespread rain, however, a good soaking inch or more is in the forecast from tonight through Tuesday night. The further east of I-35 you live, generally the heavier your rain totals will be. Expect it to remain breezy through Wednesday too.
