Suchan Says: Bright Sun Alert!

After a string of fairly cloudy days with only some breaks of sun at times, we’re about to enjoy a day of mostly sunny skies before the next system pushes into the region Friday.

Temperatures Thursday morning will bottom out near the freezing mark with a breeze making it feel colder.  Mostly sunny afternoon skies will give us a boost to near 51 with breezy westerly winds.

Thursday Forecast

Friday brings in a fast moving clipper system with a rapid increase in clouds starting early in the day.  The current track of this system appears to be near the Iowa line which would keep much of our area as just rain.  Any chance for snowflakes to mix in would be confined to northern Missouri late evening Friday into Friday night as colder air starts to sink south behind the system.

At this time, I do not expect any accumulation in our northern counties but just north of the Iowa state line, a decent snowfall is likely to occur.  Keep this in mind if you have travel plans into Des Moines Saturday.

Here are some forecast images showing the system passing by.
