Hallie’s Hints: Sunday Morning Winter Storm Update

The Winter Storm Watch has now been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. This begins at 6 pm Sunday and ends at 9 pm Monday. This includes the entire KCTV5 viewing area. This time frame is when the worst of the weather is expected to hit.

Much of today will just be cloudy, cold, and windy. The bulk of the bad weather is still down to the south of us. Drizzle or even some freezing drizzle will be possible but most locations will be dry.

By later this afternoon rain chances will begin to creep into our southern counties.

Rain will likely mix with freezing rain and sleet by this evening.

More widespread rain/sleet/freezing rain/snow will move in overnight.

Your Monday morning commute will be dicey. Allow plenty of extra time.

This winter weather will continue through the afternoon.

Finally by Monday evening, the low pressure system that brought this winter weather will push east leaving us cold, cloudy, and breezy.

Here is a look at snow and ice accumulation possibilities by Monday evening.

We’ll be watching the temperature closely throughout this time frame. The difference of a degree or two is the difference of a major ice storm vs. a high accumulating snow. Regardless of what kind of precipitation we will see, one thing is certain… travel will be treacherous during this time frame. Make sure you stay updated on the forecast. We will be updating the weather blog and KCTV5.com. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Also, you can download the FREE KCTV5 StormTrack5 Weather APP on your cell phone.
