Suchan Says: Arctic Cold and Chance of Snow

Here we go!!  A rocking RED weekend is upon us!!  And so is some arctic cold and a chance for snow.

Saturday is actually a pretty nice day if you don’t mind it being on the colder side.  We’ll see plenty of sunshine with temperatures warming into the lower 30s in the metro.  Areas further north will stay in the upper 20s while to the south, mid 30s are possible.

Saturday night cloudiness will be moving in from the northwest as a fast moving, weak system passes by.  After midnight through sunrise Sunday, patchy snow will break out across the area.  While this system does not have much moisture to work with, it will be so cold that snow to liquid ratios will be very high, on the order of 17:1 to possibly near 20:1.  Such a dry powdery snow can accumulate quickly!

Snow will quickly move out Sunday morning followed by increasing amounts of sunshine along with bitterly cold arctic air surging in!!  It will feel like it’s -5 to -15 Sunday afternoon into the evening.

Saturday Afternoon: Mostly sunny

Sunday Morning 4:00 AM…. patchy snow moving in

Sunday Morning 7:00 AM… patchy snow still in the area moving to southeast
