Hawila’s Heads-Up: Changes Soon

After a tied record high temperature Saturday of 73°, and then middle 60s Sunday, we get to enjoy another warm day Monday. High temperatures Monday will be, once again, about 20° warmer than average as we top off in the middle to upper 60s by the afternoon.

It will also remain breezy, but not quite as breezy as we saw Sunday. Gusts Sunday peaked in excess of 40 MPH in many locations around the area. A cold front will be on the move late Monday and into Tuesday. This will spark off the chance for a few rain showers possibly mixing with some snowflakes by Tuesday morning.

Precip will come to an end by lunchtime Tuesday. With temperatures remaining above freezing at the surface, I do NOT expect any issues with the Tuesday morning commute. Just nuisance rain showers or snow showers are possible. Tuesday is noticeably cooler as highs drop back to near average in the middle 40s. The only other chance for precipitation is in the form of a rain/snow mix as a fast moving system blows through the area Thursday. This system also doesn’t look to bring significant precipitation, nor do I expect it to cause issues for the Thursday commutes. We are really starting to dry out around the area and could use a good soaking rain, but the pattern over the next 7 days doesn’t support that. Next weekend looks to turn warm again with highs in the 60s.
