Hawila’s Heads-Up: Storm Update

We’ve been monitoring the circled area for storm development all afternoon. Some of these could start of strong to severe and migrate eastward toward the metro. Hail and damaging winds remain the main risks, but tornado risk is NOT zero. Radar The latest run of the HRRR (a high resolution model) shows storm arrival time in the metro approximately 8 PM. This approximation seems reasonable considering current setup and storm location.

The SPC is considering a watch in the circled area. They’ve placed probability of the watch at 40%. To emphasize. We are not anticipating a major severe weather day, but a few storms could produce some large hail and/or damaging winds. We will continue to monitor everything this evening and bring you updates online, on air and on social media.
