What a stellar way to kick off the weekend! Sunshine and high temperatures that approached 80° this afternoon made it a near perfect day for many.
We’re monitoring the approach of an upper trough that skims by to the north. This brings in the risk for a few showers and storms late Sunday and as cold front sweeps by. Some of these could be on the strong to severe side with large hail and damaging winds being the concern. The best chance to see a storm with large hail and damaging winds would be west and north of the metro. It needs to be said, the overall severe threat Sunday evening does look low locally. Rain chances increase later in the day.
A better chance for severe storms arrives late Tuesday and into Wednesday. Still a lot of questions to be answered with this upcoming system, but admittedly, the highest risk for severe storms at this time looks to be south of the metro. We will continue to monitor this as we get closer to the day.
