Suchan Says: Weekend Storms

Stepping into a big weekend with Nascar in town and Mother’s Day on Sunday, the forecast looks decent for race fans.  Mother’s Day however looks stormy especially in the back half of the day.

Saturday starts with a slight chance of rain in northern sections in the morning as we catch weakening showers and thunderstorms from Nebraska and Iowa.  The middle of the day looks dry for much of the area with mostly to partly sunny skies and warm temperatures reaching into the mid 80s (cooler 70s to near 80 up north).

Saturday evening will have a 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm but mainly in the northern half of the viewing area.

Saturday Morning: Slight rain chance but mainly northern sections

Saturday Afternoon: Mostly to partly sunny and warm

Saturday Mid to Late Evening: Isolated shower or thunderstorms possible in mainly northern sections

Mother’s Day is mostly cloudy with the lower end chance of rain confined to the morning.  As we progress through the afternoon into the evening, rain chances will be on the increase.  Temperatures will peak in the mid to a few upper 70s.

Sunday Morning: Variably Cloudy with an isolated chance of a shower or thunderstorm

Sunday Early Evening: 60% chance of showers or thunderstorms

Latest severe weather outlook keeps the highest potential to our west but I suspect future updates from the SPC may extend the “marginal risk” to the east from its current position.  I could see a couple stronger storms in the area per my analysis.

SPC’s severe weather outlook for Sunday… we’ll see if next update shifts at least the “marginal risk” further east or not which I see as a possibility
