Suchan Says: Flooding Main Concern

After severe weather Thursday, attention has been shifting to the enormous amount of rain that has fallen in the area with even more tonight into Friday.  Flooding will be the dominate headline for the area the next 24 hours!

Radar

Rain continues across much of the area now.

Radar2

Squall line to the west moving east. Arrives tonight with some wind, hail but mainly additional flash flooding concerns

Rain

Daily rainfall record in Kansas City. 3.51″ is as of 10pm. Likely much higher into midnight for the official daily total too!

Friday will bring occasional showers and some thunderstorms.  The severe risk will be more isolated.  Certainly not as widespread as Thursday.  I couldn’t rule out a few storms with hail, wind gusts.  Flash flooding from downpours will be the main risk given the amount of rain that has fallen.  It won’t take much to cause very quick flooding.

Severe

Severe outlook has us in the “marginal” risk. Higher risk out to the west
