An active pattern is setting up into 4th of July weekend with daily storm chances and in some cases over the upcoming weekend, too much rain locally which could result in some flood concerns.
Thursday is a seasonably hot day in the upper 80s and lower 90s. There will be occasional hit or miss showers or thunderstorms moving through (40% chance).
Friday also has a risk for some showers or thunder. Drier air trying to muscle in courtesy of a weak area of high pressure to the north will likely make it to about Kansas City before stalling out. This will leave enough moisture across half the area to produce late afternoon or evening showers and some thunder (30% chance).
Saturday has a widespread rain developing with some thunder. Locally heavy rain will be possible and this likely will extend into Sunday’s forecast as well. It’s entirely possible some areas could see in excess of 3″ of rain. Fortunately, 4th of July Monday looks much drier with patchy clouds and little more than a sprinkle with a high near 80.
