Williams’s Wrap: Cooling Rains On The Way

Temperatures have soared all the way into the upper 90s in many areas Thursday afternoon but it’s all downhill from here.  Thursday evening will still be hot and muggy as temperatures fall into the low 90s and upper 80s.  NWMO and NEKS will have a slight chance for a shower/t-storm as early as 6pm.  This turns into a likelihood for the region (including the Metro) overnight as a cold front cuts through the Midwest.

The severe threat is low but an isolated stronger storm could bring high winds gusts and hail.  Showers and storms should become more scattered after midnight and could linger into Friday morning.  Give yourself a few extra minutes for the morning commute if there are any areas experiencing heavy rain.

Rain chances become slim into the afternoon and evening but at least Friday will be a much cooler day.  I wouldn’t cancel any late day plans or outdoor events so just keep an eye to the sky and be weather aware through the day.  Between the rain, cooler air settling into the region, and northerly winds, highs will only make it into the low to mid 80s.
