Suchan Says: Evening Storm Update

Storms still in central Kansas producing occasional hail, wind gusts, frequent lightning

Storms should continue to march east into our area around 9pm – 11pm.  I still fully expect these storms to be weakening as they arrive.  I won’t rule out a few isolated brief strong wind gusts especially in the western part of our viewing area.  Otherwise pockets of heavy rain and lightning will also accompany the storms.

As for warnings being issued, I’m not expecting much unless we get an isolated severe t-storm warning for wind gusts in eastern Kansas to far northwestern Missouri as the line of storms approaches.

In short, the atmosphere is just not all that unstable in our area despite very good wind shear.  The ability for storms to strengthen or maintain their intensity is very low in this environment.

Band of rain moving in with some thunder at 10pm. Downpours, lightning and a few wind gusts still possible before they completely weaken
