This morning’s rain and thunder will continue to weaken and fall apart through the lunch hour. Breaks of sunshine look favorable this afternoon across our viewing area. This isn’t great news because it will enhance the severe storm threat for later today. New development of storms will take place in northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri near 6 PM. When these storms initiate, this will be the best time that an isolated tornado can develop. Damaging winds and large hail are also possible. Once they cluster together into a line, we’ll be looking at more of a damaging wind threat. I’m expecting these storms to arrive in the metro between 9 and 10. They’ll shift eastward to Warrensburg and Sedalia by 11 PM in a weakened stated.
Take note, the ENHANCED RISK has shift farther south just a hair. This now includes a small portion of the metro. Including the cities of Leavenworth, Tonganoxie and Lawrence.
Any leftover showers should depart early on Friday. Skies will clear out for the weekend. Temperatures take a dip Friday in the middle 60s. Chilly Saturday morning with lows near 40. The weekend will showcase plenty of sunshine. Mild on Saturday in the upper 60s. Warm on Sunday to the 70s! And it looks like next week unseasonably warm temperatures in the 70s will remain.
