Suchan Says: Sunday Forecast

There appears to be a little buzz in the air about icy roads in the morning for travel.  I’m just not expecting big problems.  The only areas in my opinion worth keeping an eye on for a few sneaking icy spots will be likely north of Highway 36 in northern Missouri where a brief period around sunrise could support a touch of light freezing mist.  Otherwise, I expect most areas to remain just above freezing from 33 – 37.

In fact right now 8:00pm temperatures remain steady from several hours ago instead of falling off.

8:00 PM Temperatures

Reasoning for a lack of cooling overnight, a developing system that will bring a decent snow to the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest is pulling in a breezy south wind into our region overnight.  This combined with cloudy skies should put a lid on any appreciable temperature drop.

I do expect skies to lower and thicken into daybreak with likely mist or drizzle developing however.  So there may be some wet or damp streets in the morning around the KC metro and points south.  Again, we’ll keep tabs on temperatures in the northern third of the area.

By the afternoon, temperatures warm above 40 in many areas.  So only sprinkles or rain showers are possible through the day.  The exception will be in northern Missouri where it could be barely cold enough to support a mix with some wet snow.  But even if this occurs, I wouldn’t expect much accumulation.
