Teachman’s Take: Wintry Mix, Snow and Colder Air Coming

Temperatures will be cold this morning in the upper single digits and lower teens.  Wind chills will be near zero.  Clouds will hang around for the morning and briefly give way to sunshine by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the middle 20s.

By Friday morning, clouds will thicken and moisture will start to work back into the area.  Temperatures at the surface will be below freezing, so there is a window for freezing drizzle from 6 AM to 9 AM.  Roads are already being pre-treated in advance of this onset of moisture.

We’ll dip into the 20s as the back side of this system travels through during the afternoon and early evening.  Snow is likely and we could see a widespread inch of snow across the Storm Track 5 area.  An isolated spot up to 2″ cannot be ruled out.

Much colder for Chiefs Sunday with temps around 0 in the morning.  Highs for the game will be in the teens.  Warming conditions are expected next week in the 20s and eventually 30s by Tuesday.
