Teachman’s Take: Slow Snowy Travel Saturday

Road crews are battling widespread black ice this morning.  They are having a difficult time clearing the roads due to refreezing along with additional freezing mist.  As the morning goes on, a band of snow will shift southward across the entire Storm Track 5 area.  The window for seeing the snow today will be between 10 AM and 8 PM.

During the afternoon, the heaviest of the snow will arrive and visibility will be reduced.

Anywhere from 1″ to 4″ is possible.  There could be a few spots up to 6″ of snow west of I-35.

Temperatures will also be falling all day long.  We’ll be in the teens this afternoon with wind chills below zero!

Snow will taper during the evening and the clouds will clear.  That’s when the bitter drop begins!  Lows going into Sunday morning will be 5 below zero.  Wind chills easily -15 to -25.  Sunshine will dominate during the day with the high at 12.

We’ll be bitter again Monday morning at 1 below.  Temps start to warm up into the upper 20s Monday and eventually the 40s by Wednesday.  Next week looks quiet with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

Take care,
