Suchan Says: Pattern Change Next Week

2016 will go out like a lamb in Kansas City with unseasonably mild temperatures straight into the weekend.  So far this December, temperatures are -3.2 cooler than normal even after recent warm days.  But enjoy these milder days while we have them.  All signs point toward another significant shift in the pattern next week as Arctic cold spills into the country once again keeping temperatures below average for a string of days.

This afternoon is picture perfect with sunny skies and highs near 50.  Winds will be light and from the southwest.  Wednesday actually goes above 50 degrees ahead of a cold front.  Scattered clouds from this frontal boundary will create partly sunny skies in the afternoon.

Jumping ahead to the weekend, just a few sprinkles possible Saturday otherwise skies are mostly cloudy.  Temperatures in the mid 40s.  Weather looks good for New Year’s Eve ringing in 2017 with dry roads and a typical chill in the air.

As far as any chance of snow, there could be flurries or snow showers to pass through during this stretch of cold weather.  Computer models are implying even a chance of a light accumulation before the week is done.  We’ll see.  Much to iron and smooth out in the forecast for next week in coming days.  Enjoy this welcome retreat from wicked winter weather while we have it in the meantime!
