Ice Storm Warning NOW Through 12:00AM Monday
Roads are still slick this morning as crews continue to treat them from freezing rain that fell overnight. There will be areas of patchy freezing drizzle this morning that could cause additional slick conditions mainly for overpasses, sidewalks and driveways through 10 AM. There are even a few flurries/light freezing rain in NW Missouri that continues to weaken right now.
We’ll have a window of dry and cloudy skies this afternoon as we await heavy freezing rain overnight. Temps today, we’re in the lower 20s this morning. This afternoon with cloudy skies, it will be just below freezing at 31.
The heaviest freezing rain today will stay to our south across southern Missouri. What happens to our south will work in after midnight.
After midnight, freezing rain takes over. It will be widespread and it will cause slick roads. Temps will not start to warm until the afternoon from the south to the north. That means for several hours, freezing rain will be a concern. Between noon and 2 PM, temperatures will start to warm and we’ll have a changeover to just rain. Melting will occur late in the afternoon through the overnight and into Monday.
There will be up to a half inch of ice accumulation through Sunday.
Rain showers will be around for the Chiefs game, but it won’t dip anywhere close to freezing. Into Monday, temps continue to warm into the upper 40s with rain likely. This system could end briefly as snow in NW Missouri by Monday afternoon.
We will continue to keep you updated on-air and online around the clock as this storm moves through this weekend.
