Teachman’s Take: 11 AM Severe Weather Update

Kansas City is still in the Marginal Risk with the Slight Risk getting pushed back farther west to now include Ottawa and Garnett.

What To Expect:

*If we can get enough sunshine to stir up the atmosphere, an earlier storm in the area of Garnett/Paola/LaCygne is possible between 5 and 7 PM.  We do have breaks in these areas which is now resulting in temperatures around 70 heading into 11 AM.  We’ll need to keep an eye on this part of our viewing area first.

*Main initiation is still 7 PM around in the metro.  These storms will intensify and track east through the 10 PM newscast.  Large hail and damaging winds are still primary concerns for our viewing area.

Greatest TORNADO threat is in the red.  This is a Moderate Risk that’s just been issued which includes St. Louis…this area will get tornadoes while a good portion of the folks here are sleeping….the Storm Prediction Center is using STRONG wording:  “nocturnal significant tornadoes.”  Please advise any family or friends living in this area to keep a close eye on the weather into the overnight.
