Teachman’s Take: Winter Chill And Weekend Mix

Colder breezes this morning with temps below freezing in the 20s.  Clouds will be on the march and with north/northeasterly winds, temps will be kept down in the lower 40s.

Shortly after dawn on Saturday, snow will arrive.  Folks in northern Missouri will see the snow first around 8 AM.

The metro won’t see the snow until after 10 AM.  We’ll have to wait for the atmosphere to moisten up first.

Into early afternoon, the snow could mix with sleet and even rain south of I-70.

This system will start to taper during the afternoon.

Locations north of downtown will pick up the most snowfall.  Places south, won’t see as much.  The metro will only see around an inch.  North of 36 Highway, 2″ to 4″ of snow is possible.

A Hard Freeze will settle in Sunday morning.  This is awful news for our budding trees and flowers.  Damage will occur.

Temps try to recover Sunday afternoon to the upper 30s.  Another wintry mix of snow and sleet looks likely, following a similar path to Saturday’s storm Sunday night and into Monday morning.  This will greatly affect the AM commute due to accumulating snow.  By lunch on Monday, this system should be long gone.  We’ll then clear out and stay cold in the 30s with a warm up to the 50s by Thursday.

Take care,

Teach
