Williams’s Wrap: Strong Storms Possible Saturday Evening
April 15, 2017

As a few showers move through NW MO and NE KS through the rest of the morning and early afternoon, much of the viewing area will stay dry until the evening arrives. It will be a partly sunny, windy, and warm Saturday with highs around 80.
As a cold front continues to push through the region, around 6pm is when we’ll start to see showers/storms form along and ahead of the front. Development will take place mainly across northeast KS and northwest MO.
By 8pm, showers and storms will become more scattered across the viewing area and should reach the Metro by 9pm. Scattered showers/storms will continue through midnight but will also start to weaken during the overnight hours. Heavy rain and thunder will still be possible after 12am. By 6am, most of us will be dry and any leftover showers will be confined to our southernmost counties, so Easter Sunday services look like they’ll be in good shape.
So between 6pm and 12am is going to be our best bet at seeing hail, strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and lightning should a stronger/severe storm develop. I also wouldn’t be surprised if a thunderstorm watch is issued sometime during the late afternoon, followed by a few thunderstorm warnings during the evening. If you you’ll be outdoors this evening, have a plan and a way to get weather alerts.
