Teachman’s Take: One Long Soggy Stretch

Scattered rain showers will be sliding north/northeast this morning.  These showers should be mostly finished with the exception of areas north of 36 Highway by the lunch hour.
Cloudy skies with a few sprinkles & breaks of sunshine are expected this afternoon.  Temps should be able to rebound into the lower 60s.
This weekend — WOW!!
Rain arrives around dawn on Saturday and sticks around through Monday morning!  The latest models show the heaviest in the southeastern portions of our viewing area (closer to the I-44 corridor).  Waves of moderate to heavy rain will pass through during the day.  I’m not seeing a decent window for any dry skies which isn’t good news for the Sporting KC and Royals games.

And Sunday, isn’t much better!  I can see a small break in the rain during the late afternoon and early evening hours as the dry slot punches through.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH that goes into effect at 7 PM Friday and stays in effect through 7 PM Sunday.
In the area under the watch, I can easily see anywhere from 3″ to 4″ of rain total through Sunday evening.  As for the metro, who is NOT in the watch, I can see 2″ to 3″ of rain.
This will be a soaker of a weekend and unfortunately, just about all outdoor activities will be canceled if not miserable if held outside.  Temps over the weekend will be in the lower to middle 50s.  Rain departs Monday morning.  There’s a slight chance for a few passing showers Tuesday and Wednesday.  We’ll dig out of the chill and arrive back into the upper 60s and lower 70s as early as next Tuesday.
Take care,
Teach
