Teachman’s Take: Work Week Sizzler
May 8, 2017

Showers & thunderstorms are starting to depart our viewing area.  They’ve favored areas north and east of the metro all morning.

Temps today will quickly rise.  Expecting us to be near 80 by the lunch hour!  This afternoon will be much hotter than yesterday at 85.  Winds will be kicking up from the southwest at 10 to 20 MPH, gusting to 25.  Sunshine will dominate today with a few clouds along the MO/IA state line.

The majority of Tuesday will be quiet.  I can see a random pop-up shower late in the day.  Otherwise, mostly sunny to partly cloudy and hot again in the middle 80s.

Scattered showers and storms are likely during the day on Wednesday, first beginning in northern MO and then shifting south toward the metro by late afternoon & evening.  While an isolated stronger storm is possible, I’m not expecting major severe weather.

Scattered showers & storms linger through Thursday.  This will be the day when we see the most widespread and heaviest rain of the week.

Highs will drop from the upper 70s Wednesday to the middle 60s Thursday.  By Friday, temperatures start to recover as skies clear.  NASCAR weekend at the Speedway looks superb!  Plenty of sunshine and highs bouncing back into the middle and upper 70s.  Next chance for rain is next Monday.

Take care,

Teach
