Teachman’s Take: Toasty Beginning To The Week

The heat is on!  We will have some clouds, but a good deal of sunshine that will warm us up quickly today.  The record high is 91 from 1941.

Winds will be gusting to 30 MPH from the southwest.  I can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm along the MO/IA state line later in the day.

Temperatures come down a hair on Tuesday to 85.  There’s a slight chance for a few late day showers/storms north and west of the metro.  Some of these could be strong with gusty winds.

Our better rain chances await for Wednesday morning with scattered showers & thunderstorms.

More scattered showers and thunderstorms move through during Wednesday’s lunch hour.

Evening games that include Sporting KC and the Royals will need to monitor the skies for a brief rain delay.

Highs will drop into the upper 70s.  Thursday looks mostly dry with a 30% chance for storms by evening.  Friday looks like a good bet once again for scattered showers & storms.  Rain will linger into Saturday with drier skies by Sunday.

High temps from Wednesday through Friday will be from the upper 70s to the lower 80s.  Over the weekend, highs will drop to near 70.  Rain returns next Monday.

Keep in mind, it’s May and with any of these storm chances, a few storms could be severe.  However, not one day is better than the other as the main zone for severe weather will be to our north in NE/IA and over central Kansas this week.

Take care,

Teach
