Amble’s Ramble

Cooler afternoons and a few rain showers would be nice right about now but that chance will not arrive until Thursday. Intense heat will continue through Wednesday evening before dropping the low Thursday morning into the middle 70s. The morning will be similar to the last several mornings with very muggy conditions and a mostly fair sky:

Out The Door

The afternoon will be warm as well as temperatures soar back into the 90s. The difference in the day will be the added cloud cover and the wind turning to the north by the middle of the day. This weak front will be the focus for afternoon storms which should be rolling by the evening hours:


A few of these storms could reach severe levels but the risk is marginal. Without question you can expect very heavy rainfall and with the strongest of the storms a few large hailstones could fall along with a storm or two capable of gusty winds. This is a look at the potential for severe weather on Thursday:

Severe Risk

Over the past several days our rain chances have been confined to areas along the Missouri and Iowa State line with virtually no chance for the remainder of our viewing area to scare up a drop. The shift of that front from southern Iowa to the I-70 corridor will give a chance for nearly everyone in our area to benefit from this next rain chance. This is a look at the Marginal Risk and the area it will cover on Thursday:
