Hallie’s Hints: Can You Feel the Difference?

If you left this morning thinking… WOW… it doesn’t feel too bad out there… and then a few hours later stepped back outside and thought… WOW… it’s cold! You would be right. We had a cold front push through our area this afternoon ushering down cooler temperatures and gusty northwesterly winds.

The rain has moved out and as soon as the clouds clear overnight, temperatures will fall quickly into the mid 30s by Christmas Eve morning.

A quick moving wave in the atmosphere will bring the chance of a few sprinkles (or snowflakes north of Highway 36) early Thursday morning. By afternoon, we’re looking for highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s and partly sunny skies. Get that shopping done!

Traveling for the holiday? For the most part we should be in great shape. A few slick spots will be possible Thursday morning from Highway 36 and points northward. Conditions will be quiet for Christmas and then big changes for the weekend. Rain moves in Saturday and as the cold air moves down from the north we could see the rain change over to snow Sunday and Monday. This system is still a ways out, so a lot can change. We will be ironing out the details in the coming days. One thing is for sure, if you’ll be traveling between Sunday and Tuesday of next week, make sure you stay updated on the forecast.
